چکیده

This paper develops Bayesian penalized spline predictive (BPSP) estimator of finite population proportion for probability-proportional-to-size samples. This new method allows the probabilities of inclusion to be directly incorporated into the estimation of population proportion, using a probit regression of the binary outcome on the penalized spline of the inclusion probabilities. The posterior distribution of the population proportion is then obtained using Gibbs sampling. Simulation studies show that the BPSP estimator gains efficiency over the HT estimator by using the inclusion probabilities in the nonsampled units, and that the BPSP estimator has a better coverage with narrower credible interval over the HT estimator, especially when the true population proportion is close to zero or one for small samples.

Bayesian penalized spline model-based inference for finite population proportion in unequal probability sampling.

We propose a Bayesian Penalized Spline Predictive (BPSP) estimator for a finite population proportion in an unequal probability sampling setting. This new method allows the probabilities of inclusion to be directly incorporated into the estimation of a population proportion, using a probit regression of the binary outcome on the penalized spline of the inclusion probabilities. The posterior pre...

Bayesian inference for the finite population total from a heteroscedastic probability proportional to size sample

We study Bayesian inference for the population total in probability-proportional-to-size (PPS) sampling. The sizes of non-sampled units are not required for the usual Horvitz-Thompson or Hajek estimates, and this information is rarely included in public use data files. Zheng and Little (2003) showed that including the non-sampled sizes as predictors in a spline model can result in improved poin...

Bayesian inference for finite population quantiles from unequal probability samples.

This paper develops two Bayesian methods for inference about finite population quantiles of continuous survey variables from unequal probability sampling. The first method estimates cumulative distribution functions of the continuous survey variable by fitting a number of probit penalized spline regression models on the inclusion probabilities. The finite population quantiles are then obtained ...

Accuracy of Genomic Prediction under Different Genetic Architectures and Estimation Methods

The accuracy of genomic breeding value prediction was investigated in various levels of reference population size, trait heritability and the number of quantitative trait locus (QTL). Five Bayesian methods, including Bayesian Ridge regression, BayesA, BayesB, BayesC and Bayesian LASSO, were used to estimate the marker effects for each of 27 scenarios resulted from combining three levels for her...

Joint Bayesian Stochastic Inversion of Well Logs and Seismic Data for Volumetric Uncertainty Analysis

Here in, an application of a new seismic inversion algorithm in one of Iran’s oilfields is described. Stochastic (geostatistical) seismic inversion, as a complementary method to deterministic inversion, is perceived as contribution combination of geostatistics and seismic inversion algorithm. This method integrates information from different data sources with different scales, as prior informat...
